Frequently Asked Questions
When shall I arrive?
PHPCI2019 will commence on Sunday at 9am with some pre conference workshops, so it’s best to arrive Saturday, 12 October.
Leave yourself 3 hours to travel from Sydney International Airport to Leura. For more information on travel visit here.
Can I get sponsorship to attend the conference?
PHPCI2019 is a not for profit event. Our organising committee is working really hard to ensure that everyone who wants to come can attend, and we are currently working to find sponsors for people who may need a bursary. At this stage, despite our best efforts PHPCI2019 is not yet able to offer any scholarships to the Conference.
PHPCI2019 does however have reduced rate tickets if you are a Volunteer, a Student or from a Low Income Country. For further detail on this, you can visit the website. (Please note that we are not taking on volunteers for the conference at this stage).
What will the weather be like in October?
It’s Spring in Australia in October.
Leura is 985m above sea level so tends to be a littler cooler than Sydney. In October 2018 the highest temperature was 25 degrees celsius and went as low as 7 degrees.
It’s usually quite pleasant but pack some warm clothes and it has snowed in Leura in the past!
I have dietary restrictions, will they be catered for?
Yes, we cater for any dietary restrictions. Please email email@example.com if you need to confirm.
Can my family attend also?
Your registration is for one entry to the conference, but your family is welcome to join you on your trip. We are offering free childcare (for children 0-16years) onsite and partners are welcome to attend the gala dinner (at additional cost). There are numerous activities including golf, bush walks, a day spa, gym, pools and other social activities for partners to participate in. Head to the Fairmont resort website for more information.
Is the conference location close to public transport?
Leura has a train station which connects to Sydney, however to get to the Resort location you will require a taxi or Uber (there is a taxi stand at the station). We are currently working on sourcing some private bus transfers.
How do I get to the conference location from the airport?
There are a couple of options. There are some direct airport transfer services (we are currently looking into these). There is also the option of a train to Leura from Sydney, then a taxi/Uber to the resort from Leura train station.
Do I require a VISA?
Not all countries require a VISA to enter Australia. We have compiled all that information needed on the website here.
Are discounted tickets available?
We are currently offering discounted early-bird tickets, limited to the first 75 purchased. We also offer discounted tickets for low income countries, volunteers, full-time student and daily attendances only. Please visit this page to review the information.
Do I have to stay at the conference venue? Or can I stay elsewhere? Where?
We have accessed our discounted accommodation rate for you at the Leura Fairmont Resort and Spa but you are welcome to stay elsewhere in the Blue Mountains. You can view all the options here.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Please contact the resort directly to discuss any specific needs.
What if I have to cancel my ticket?
All cancellations must be made in writing by emailing Tara@phpci2019.com. Registration fees will be refunded less a $100 cancellation fee prior to 5pm on Friday September 20, 2019. After this date, we regret that no refunds will be made, however substitute delegates will be accepted. Please note that cancellation fees will apply whether or not payment is received at the time of registration. By submitting the registration, you are agreeing to these conditions.
Can I volunteer to assist at the PHPCI2019?
We currently do not require volunteers for the PHPCI2019.
