Welcome to From the Brink: A Fringe Festival About Ageing, Dying, Grieving, and Our Community! We are so pleased to share this exciting series of events with you here in the Blue Mountains.
Compassionate Communities is a worldwide social movement that aims to build community capacity to support people approaching the end of their lives. Compassionate Communities recognise that caring for each other during times of health crisis and personal loss is not solely a task for health and social services, but is everyone's responsibility.
The Blue Mountains' Our Compassionate Community, now in its second year, has called for spaces in the community to openly converse, learn, share, celebrate, network and grieve. So we've created From the Brink, an arts festival with a difference, where we can look life in the eyes, together, and with joy. Where we can acknowledge that ageing, dying and grieving is a shared experience and, done right, can present us with opportunities to connect and flourish!
So enjoy! And join us in making the Blue Mountains a great place to live and die. Niki Read, Festival Curator + Jessica Raschke, Festival Coordinator
